PRESS RELEASE NOVEMBER 9, 2015
Fresno Rescue Mission Thrift Store and Cars
Opens a Parking Lot “Tent Sale” and Receiving Center:
(Fresno, Ca.) – One week ago, the Fresno Rescue Mission Thrift Store and Cars was forced to close when the roof collapsed. Today, the Thrift Store and Cars will be operating once again, thanks to our community’s response, a very large, secure tent, and a fervent resolve to keep Mission staff gainfully employed throughout this temporary transition.
The 5200 sq. ft. tent is being assembled Monday, November 9th on the parking lot in front of the closed building, located at 181 E Sierra Avenue. The Thrift Store began receiving donations from the community just days after the incident – items delivered to the lot and loaded into secure storage while the giant tent is being raised and braced. In addition, a 15,000 sq ft Processing Center has been secured around the corner from the G Street campus on Van Ness and Woodrow.
On Wednesday, November 11th, the flaps of the tent will open and the Fresno Rescue Mission Thrift Store and Cars will officially open for business.
The Fresno Rescue Mission will continue to operate in the parking lot while the fate of damaged building is decided. In the meantime, this is great news for the Mission. This temporary TENT SALE ensures that resources will continue to flow to the ministries of the Mission and that their vocational training center for their program participants remains operational
